About the establishment of the SDGs Promotion Committee
In February 2022, we established the SDGs Promotion Committee with the aim of promoting sustainability management.
SDGs is an acronym for Sustainable Development Goals, translated as “Sustainable Development Goals” and adopted at the United Nations Summit in September 2015. We aim to realize a society in which no one is left behind.
The “SDGs Promotion Committee” is composed of executives in charge of each department under the supervision of a manager. We will formulate the policies and policy targets shown in Table > (see 2.) and monitor progress.
In particular, regarding the reduction of CO2 emissions, we have formulated a specific reduction plan and have started working on it as an issue that should be addressed as soon as possible. (See 3.)
Based on the management philosophy of “creating original metal materials and contributing to people’s lives and culture”, we aim to realize a sustainable economy and society and fulfill our responsibility to the future. I declare that I will be active.

3.About Shinhokoku Material Corp.’s efforts to reduce CO2
Prevention of climate change is an urgent issue, and efforts to reduce greenhouse gases, which are thought to be the cause of global warming, are being accelerated around the world. , we also started efforts to reduce CO2 emissions. Figure 1 shows the reduction plan up to 2030. In formulating the plan, we adopted the “Basic Guidelines for Calculating Greenhouse Gas Emissions Through the Supply Chain” introduced by the Ministry of the Environment and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry as guidelines for calculating emissions. We calculated direct emissions and indirect emissions in the supply chain (Fig. 2), and set specific initiatives to achieve the plan. (Fig.3)
Figure 2 Supply chain emissions
Scope 1: Direct emissions of greenhouse gases by business operators (fuel combustion, industrial processes)
Scope2 : Indirect emissions associated with the use of electricity, heat and steam supplied by other companies
Scope3: Indirect emissions other than Scope1 and Scope2 (emissions from other companies related to business activities)

Fig. 3 Details of specific initiatives
- Scope1 Reduction of CO2 derived from gas and gasoline
- Introduction of EV vehicles
Clean gas
Electrification of existing facilities - Scope2 CO2 reduction from power generation
- Purchase of renewable energy
Installation of solar panels - Scope3 CO2 reduction from product life cycle and manufacturing process
- Promote recycling
Improving manufacturing processes
Uses low-CO2 raw materials
For Scope 1 and Scope 2, CO2 reduction is realized by reviewing external factors such as equipment and power contracts, but Scope 3 involves activities involving our own activities, technical improvements, and development.
We will work to prevent global warming by gathering the knowledge and technology we have cultivated so far and creating products with new value.
